About the Family Life Center

The Family Life Center is a private not-for-profit social service organization providing no-cost services to individuals and families experiencing Domestic or Sexual Violence. We are committed to meeting the needs of the community and recognizing the specific challenges faced by those in rural areas of Flagler County.


Operating with the premise "Peace Begins at Home," the Family Life Center strives to create an environment of safe and harmonious co-existence among families residing within its facility and throughout the Flagler County community, while providing an empowerment based model of help that is self-directed by the survivor.


Our Mission

The mission of the Family Life Center is to end the perpetration of Domestic and Sexual Violence throughout our community through proactive programs that provide protection, intervention, education and prevention.

Essential Support Services

The Family Life Center provides the following essential services to men, women and children who are victims of Domestic or Sexual Violence.

  • Emergency Shelter
  • Provision of Food, Clothing, Personal Care Items and Transportation
  • 24- Hour Crisis Counseling via Crisis Hotline
  • Individual and Group Crisis Counseling
  • Assistance in Acquiring Emergency and Non-Emergency Medical Care
  • Assistance in Acquiring Legal Aid and Representation - Court Advocacy
  • Referral to Agencies and Organizations for Financial Assistance
  • Referral to Agencies that Provide Housing Assistance
  • Referral for Employment Assistance
  • Assistance in Accessing Private Counseling
  • Life Skills Training (Parenting Classes, Budgeting, Assistance with GED Preparation and Other Employment Enhancement Skills, Goal Planning)

Outreach Program

In addition to the aforementioned essential services, the Family Life Center also engages the Flagler County community through Outreach Programs that focus on awareness of, and deterrents to, Domestic and Sexual Violence. 


Non-Discrimination Policy

The Family Life Center accepts qualified individuals and families into programs, provides program services, and makes room assignments without regard to race, color, national origin, Limited English Proficiency, hearing impairment, disability, sexual preference, age or racial composition.

The Family Life Center translates all vital documents for Limited English Proficiency individuals and groups. The Family Life Center provides residents with their rights and responsibilities in the language they understand.

The Family Life Center will provide accommodations, including American Sign Language interpreters, assisted listening devices, alternative formats of printed materials and real-time captioning upon request for persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or are living with disabilities.  To ensure accommodations for scheduled events, please make your request within 7 days prior to the event to Alexis Smith at programdirector@flcsafehouse.org.  Please see the Family Life Center Auxiliary Aids Plan for more information.

The Family Life Center is in immediate need of the following items:

  • Size 4, 5 and 6 diapers

  • Baby wipes & baby formula

  • Ladies underwear 

  • Household / kitchen items     (paper towels, aluminum foil,     zip lock baggies, etc.)

  • Household cleaning products (garbage bags, laundry detergent, lysol, etc.)

  • Non-perishable food items

  • Flip Flops - All sizes
