About the Family Life Center
The Family Life Center is a private not-for-profit social service organization providing no-cost services to individuals and families experiencing Domestic or Sexual Violence. We are committed to meeting the needs of the community and recognizing the specific challenges faced by those in rural areas of Flagler County.
The Family Life Center strives to create an environment of safe and harmonious co-existence among families residing within its facility and throughout the Flagler County community, while providing an empowerment based model of help that is self-directed by the survivor.
Essential Support Services
The Family Life Center provides essential services to men, women and children who are victims of Domestic or Sexual Violence. Essential services include: Emergency Shelter; provision of food, clothing, personal care items; transportation; 24-hour crisis counseling (via our Crisis Hotline); individual and group crisis counseling; assistance in acquiring emergency and non-emergency medical care; assistance in acquiring legal aid and representation; information and referrals regarding private counseling, financial assistance, employment assistance and housing assistance; and life skills training (budgeting, GED preparation, employment enhancement skills, etc.)
Emergency Shelter
The Emergency Shelter is a safe-house for survivors of Domestic Violence. Our 32 bed facility is a comfortable home that houses adult women and their children during crisis situations. During their stay, we encourage residents to make the Emergency Shelter their home, so we provide the following at no-cost for both adults and children: meals, toiletries, laundry facilities and detergent, clothing & shoes, computer and phone access, and more.
For more information on the Emergency Shelter, including entry criteria, call our Crisis Hotline at 386-437-3505.

About the Backyard Makeover Project
The goal of this project was to update the backyard of the Emergency Shelter to provide a safe, fun, relaxing and peaceful area where children and adults can begin to heal from the trauma of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and WOW! what an update it turned out to be!
Multiple studies have shown that being outside in the fresh air is great for stress relief and for overall well-being. "Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. It may even reduce mortality, according to scientists such as public health researchers Stamatakis and Mitchell." - Taking Charge of Your Health and Wellbeing
Thank you to all of our supporters for helping to provide this amazing outdoor space!
